Numerous light railways are within easy reach as are the sandy beaches and rocky coves of Cardigan Bay.
The ancient market town of Machynlleth is the focal point of an area rich in history and culture, with Owain Glyndwr establishing his parliament here in the mid 15th century. The area has become associated with current issues such as sustainability and the environment, with the world famous Centre For Alternative Technology located in the Dovey Valley.
